Privacy policy
AntiPDF and antisoftworks.com. Last changed 6 October 2026.
The short version: AntiPDF reads, edits and recognises text on your computer, and has no tracking, no analytics and no ads. What goes through our server, documents you keep in your account or share, chat, and pages scanned with your phone, is encrypted before it leaves your device, and our server cannot open it.
Who is responsible
AntiPDF and Anti Softworks are brands of Heimdall3D, a sole trader in Germany, who is the controller for the data described here:

The program
Your documents
AntiPDF opens, shows, changes and saves your PDF files on your computer. It does not send their contents, their names or anything about what you read to us or to anyone else. A document leaves your computer only when you send it yourself, for example by e-mail with your own mail program, or when you keep it in your account or share it (below): then it is encrypted on your computer first, and we cannot read it.
Text recognition
Scanned pages are read by text recognition that runs on your computer, on its graphics card or its processor, with models installed with the program. The recognised text is kept on your computer beside the search index, never for encrypted documents. You can turn it off in Preferences › Performance › Read scanned pages.
What AntiPDF keeps on your computer
Your settings, the list of recent documents, where you stopped reading, bookmarks, and for large documents a search index of their text, so that search is ready the next time. All of it stays in your user folder. The index can be cleared, or not kept at all, in Preferences › Privacy & Security.
No tracking
AntiPDF sends no usage statistics, no crash reports and no analytics, and it shows no ads.
Pro licences
A Pro licence belongs to the e-mail address it was bought with, and its key carries that address. No account is needed. When you activate the key, AntiPDF sends the key, the name of the computer and a fingerprint of it to our server; a key can be active on up to three computers. AntiPDF checks the key on the computer, also offline, and about once a day while online asks our server whether it still stands (a refund or an ended subscription ends it). We keep the e-mail address, the plan, its expiry and the activated computers' names and fingerprints; we store no key. Deleting your account does not delete your licences, which are records of your purchase: write to us to have them erased.
Your account, sharing and live sessions
Signing in, keeping documents in your account, sharing them, live sessions and chat need an account on our server. You sign in with your e-mail address and a code we send to it.
Everything you keep or share is encrypted on your computer before it leaves it, with keys that never reach us: we cannot read your documents, their names, thumbnails, annotations, chat messages or comments. We store the encrypted documents and only what is needed to deliver them: your e-mail address and public key, the names you give your computers, for each document its owner, sizes, dates and versions, who shares which document with whom and in what role, invite links (without their keys), notifications, and a change journal kept for 30 days. Live-session messages pass through our server encrypted and are not stored. To deliver all this the server necessarily sees the internet addresses of your computers and when they connect.
The account data is kept for as long as you have the account; a document you delete is removed for good after 30 days, and database backups are kept for 30 days. To delete your account and everything in it, write to privacy@antisoftworks.com from its address; we do it within 30 days. The legal basis is the contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Processors on our behalf: Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany (the server and its database), OVH GmbH, Germany (storage of the encrypted documents, in Germany), and Hostinger International Ltd. with Titan (the sign-in, licence and notification e-mails we send).
Scanning with your phone
If you choose the phone in the Scan window, your computer shows a QR code. It opens a page on antisoftworks.com in the phone's browser. The code contains a random session name and a key. The key sits in the part of the address after the #, which browsers never send to a server, and the page removes it from the address bar once it has read it.
The phone encrypts each picture with that key (AES-256-GCM) before it sends it. Our server passes the encrypted pictures on to your computer and cannot decrypt them. It keeps them only in memory, until your computer has fetched them, and forgets a session after 15 minutes without activity. To deliver the pictures it necessarily sees the internet addresses of the phone and the computer, the times and the sizes of the encrypted pictures.
This website
antisoftworks.com sets no cookies, uses no analytics and loads nothing from other companies: its pages, pictures and scripts all come from this server, except Paddle's checkout on the buy page (below). If you choose the light or dark theme with the button at the top, that choice is kept in your browser and never sent to us.
The web server keeps a standard access log for running and securing the site: the internet address, time, page asked for, the browser's description of itself and the address of the page that linked here. Each day's log is deleted after 14 days. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
The site and the scan relay are hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany, who processes this data on our behalf.
Buying Pro
Purchases are handled by Paddle.com Market Ltd, London, as the merchant of record: Paddle takes the payment and issues the invoice under its own privacy policy. We receive the e-mail address you bought with (from the checkout, or from Paddle when the checkout did not pass it on) and what you bought, and use them to make and send your licence key by e-mail and to answer questions about the purchase. The buy page loads Paddle's checkout from paddle.com; the rest of this site loads nothing from other companies. Records of sales are kept as long as tax law requires.
Your rights
You may ask what data we hold about you, and have it corrected, deleted, restricted or handed to you; you may object to how it is used. Write to the address above. You may also complain to a data protection authority, in Berlin the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit.
Changes
If AntiPDF or this site starts to handle data differently, this page changes first, with a new date at the top.
